Marissa and Kyle got married on June 6, 2020, the day a tropical storm decided to roll in and give us an adventurous day!

All week I anxiously watched the weather because this summer had been particularly active. I knew that the weather would be a huge factor and was nervous about proceeding without a backup plan. We agreed to bump up the time a little but not much since family around the US would be tuning in live to watch the ceremony.

I knew the bride and groom were very excited to finally get the wedding over with since they had to reschedule the big day multiple times due to Covid and travel restrictions. So they were determined to get married in the rain or shine!

I helped Marissa get ready with hair and make-up that morning. And it was with fingers crossed that I prayed everything would last until after they exchanged their first kiss.

After the bride and groom were dressed and ready to go, we rushed to the ceremony location, which seemed like a million miles away. It took 47 minutes to get there, and all I could see what the vast dark clouds that hung right overhead, threatening us with rain. I loved how casual the lovebirds were because I was freaking out like a crazy woman but stayed calm on the outside.

We get to the ceremony site, and everyone is waiting in a semi-circle, but the wind is howling, and the sand is flying everywhere. It's somewhat hard to see, too, with all the sea mist in the air. The couple exchanged vows, and before you know it, they are married, but in that instant, the rain batters us all with all its force. Everything is flying. The giant rainbow umbrella I thought would protect my beautiful bride is blown inside out. Everything is a disaster, yet the bride is giggling because she finally did it. She married her person.

We ran back to the car soaked. It's now party time, and we can all now let loose. We travel back to their house, where everyone changes. I even borrow one of the bride's shirts since I, too, was soaked Everyone is calling and Facetiming the new couple with all their well wishes. The chaos is quite lovely.

Since we didn't get to get any photos we agree to meet later in the week at sunrise to get a few couples photos. I was happy we could do that since our first try at pictures the January prior was an adventure as well, with some pretty crappy weather too. Even though waking up super early for some people is a pain in the butt I always know that the start of a new day brings some pretty amazing sunrises always.

Congratulations again Marissa and Kyle ! I really enjoyed being there for you throughout this crazy ride. - Jessica
