My story started long ago in San Antonio, TX where I was born and raised. My mom would buy me disposable cameras that I would use to take photos of my friends. I was lucky to have parents who always encouraged all of my hobbies and interests. I would pretend to be gettting them ready for big fancy fashion shows. Our sessions included wardrobe, hair and make-up, the works. Every Friday I would eagerly pick up my prints from the local drugstore and wow over the magic I created. With my limited resources I was able to take my imagination all over the place. These experiences were shaping my future and I had no idea at the time.
I became a mother at a early age so any future hopes I had were put on pause and I jumped into adulthood. I sold Avon, Mary Kay, and jewelry. I babysat and worked odd little jobs to provide for my kids. While doing all this I was able to complete my high school education with both my babies by my side. I tell you this because I would not be here if it wasn’t for the hard work and determination the gift of motherhood gave me.
While in high school I also obtained my cosmetology license which I keep active. I specialize in event hair and make-up. You can find me getting gorgeous brides ready for their big days when I am not behind the camera. In 2009 I started my photography journey after the birth of my 4th child. I was tired of getting terrible photos of my young children with my slow camera so I bought a new fancy one and in a instant my life changed. Once I had my new toy I was unstoppable. I was taking photos day and night of anything or anyone who would let me give them a free session. I experimented with different angles, bought various props, read everything I could about photography. I also set up my own makeshift "studio" in my living room. It never occured to me once that I could actually do this for a living. I just knew the power of photography and how it gave me something to look forward to. Once I started taking photos everything changed. I felt powerful and control of my own path. This is how it all changed for me. Photography has literally saved me.
I am a strong believer in manifesting your dreams. Dream big then go out there and chase them! There is nothing you can’t overcome. I am a survivor of abuse and I live each day with purpose. Life is too precious to waste. I’m gonna live my life free and be my authentic self every single day I have breathe in me. Spreading goodness in the world is my religion. That to me is powerful.
Things I love
My gorgeous children Mathew, Juliet, Jeslyn and Jacob. My children have given me the drive to make every single day a opportunity for greatness.
My new Grandson Kingston. My little bundle of Joy.
Texas, the Lonestar State where I was born and raising is so very special to me. Every member of my family is there and everyday I have been gone I miss them like crazy. I was blessed with a supportive and loving family that includes grandparents, parents, siblings, neices and nephews. I am also close with my aunts, uncles and cousins. Whenever I go home there are huge parties and my family makes me feel like I never left home.
Dancing to anything and everything. I will break it down at Walmart. I literally don’t care. If you want to dance with me at your session let’s do it! My favorite place to dance though is in my kitchen. We have the best parties there.
Taco Tuesday, it’s taken very seriously in my home. We don’t play when it comes to Taco Day!
Make-up and anything with glitter. I also can’t resist lipstick and if I feel down or blah I usually start with putting some on or buying a new one to feel better.
Summer, is my favorite time of the year. I love swimming, sunbathing, fishing at the pier. Riding jet skis and the pontoon boats. Summer means buying lot’s bathing suits. I have way too many I haven’t even worn yet.
Friendships mean so much to me. I never leave my friends without telling them how much I love them. Life is so precious.
When I am not working you could find me chasing sunrises or sunsets. My son Jacob and I ususally go before school then stop at McDonald’s. It’s our very special tradition.
My favorite clothing usually has either animal print specifically leapard or tye dye. I always say those are my favorite colors.
I love meeting new people and learning their stories. I meet friends everywhere. My mom always said not to talk to strangers but I just truly can’t help it. It’s my thing!
My curious spirit has me constantly researching one thing or another. The world is so big and I want to explore it all. I have been lucky to travel so much and love to immerse myself with the local culture.
I love volunteering with various causes especially when they involves the homeless and children in need.
